Crucifix Earrings
ST. PETERS CRUCIFIX
The origin of the inverted cross starts with the martyrdom of St. Peter, who requested to be crucified upside-down, as he felt he wasn’t worthy to be crucified in the same way as Jesus. Additionally, the inverted cross has been widely used as an anti-Christian and Satanic symbol, and also as the symbol of self proclaimed prophet Eugene Vintras, who was accused of conducting black masses in the nude as well as homosexuality, among other things. Overall, a very versatile symbol. Original design hand cast in pewter.
ROMANESQUE CRUCIFIX
A crucifix in the Romanesque style. This earring set was inspired by the San Damiano cross, closely associated with the story of St. Francis and the later Franciscan monks. Original design hand cast in pewter.
TRADITIONAL CRUCIFIX
A standard crucifix. Recast in pewter from an example from the turn of the century.
All earrings mounted on 16 Gauge sterling silver plated clasps.
